ADAC lockdown efforts lead to national award

MEMBERS of Annan and District Athletics Club (ADAC) are celebrating scooping a national award for their efforts during lockdown.

They picked up the 4J Studio innovation prize at the Scottish Athletics virtual awards night on Saturday.

It recognises the club’s efforts in keeping athletes busy during the pandemic, with over 20 events in six different series of races.

ADAC beat an initial 94 other nominees to win and members are thrilled.

Joe Boardman, who coordinated many of the lockdown runs, said: “This is an outstanding achievement and a great acknowledgement for the club’s hard work over the past six months.

“We are delighted that our wee club has been recognised for our efforts to support athletics during the lockdown period and will continue to do so moving forward.

“This would not be possible without the efforts of all of our members in both the planning and participation of all of the virtual events that took place during this time.”

The trophy is on its way to Annan and all club members will be invited to the track for a special presentation when it arrives.
