DUMFRIES Partnership Action Group (DPAG) are looking to build on their successes of last year as they reveal their latest plans.

The group held its annual general meeting earlier this month, describing the session as ‘a good time to look back and a good time to plan for the future.’

Highlights shared included the Christmas Lights Big Switch On and the strong community support for the Lights of Hope Project, backed by the People’s Project. A key milestone in 2025 was the completion of the new Local Place Plan (LPP) for Dumfries, created with Loreburn Community Council and registered with Dumfries and Galloway Council in September. The plan identifies priority development areas and potential sites for town centre housing and other projects.

Speaking after the meeting, DPAG chair Eric Craig said: “There was a real buzz around our discussions looking forward. There are major challenges as with all towns, but for the first time in years there are signs of large-scale capital investment coming into Dumfries and a new willingness for key partners to work together to make things happen.”

“We also had a presentation on the new DPAG-led Love Dumfries Directory, capturing all things Dumfries — from shopping and eating out to events, accommodation and more. DPAG will soon invite around 22,000 users to sign up and upload their businesses, services, or events. Find out more at lovedumfries.co.uk”
