A success for seasonal shop safety

A MAN from Cumbernauld this week found out first hand how successful the Dumfries Radio Link Scheme is and how seriously police officers locally treat retail crime.
After being spotted shoplifting from a store at a retail park in town on Tuesday, the man's location was passed to officers by other stores.
The 31-year-old was quickly located, arrested and found with several hundred pounds worth of stolen property. Checks confirmed he is also wanted for thefts in Glenrothes and Stirling.
He is now in custody pending an appearance at Dumfries Sheriff Court.
The police's Festive Safety Campaign will continue as officers carry out high visibility and plain clothes patrols to reassure retailers and deter and detect shoplifters.
