HEAD downtown to Skid Row next week as Dumfries Musical Theatre Company presents ‘Little Shop of Horrors’.

Set in a rundown flower shop, the musical comedy follows the meek shop assistant Seymour Krelborn, played by newcomer Linden Disney-Hogg, who discovers an otherworldly looking plant that brings him fame and fortune – but only if he keeps up with its growing appetite for blood.

He names it Audrey II after his glamorous co-worker Audrey played by Maeve Reekie, who dreams of escaping Skid Row – but is trapped by her sadistic dentist boyfriend, Orin Scrivello portrayed by Colin Williamson.

As Audrey II grows out of control, Seymour must choose between love, his morality, and the future of humanity.

Brought to life by ‘plant-tastic’ directing duo Valerie Wilson and Amy McFarlane, with pitch perfect musical direction by Nick Riley and production management by Sharron Harper, this terrifyingly brilliant show is budding with killer choreography by Star Murdy.

Valerie and Amy are looking forward to welcoming audiences to Skid Row, they said: “Navigating the crazy mix of dark humour, killer music, and a very hungry plant, has made this show a true joy to work on together.

“Our cast and crew have poured their hearts, and maybe a little blood, into bringing the show to life!

“We promise that it’s a show that will ‘grow on you’, and we cannot wait for audiences to experience the wild, weird and wonderful world of Skid Row.”

Little Shop of Horrors will be performed at the Brigend Theatre from Saturday November 22 to Saturday November 29 from 7.30 pm, with a matinée on Sunday November 23.
