ANOTHER excellent Gala Week in the Ferry Toon of Cree was brought to a close on gala day itself on Saturday. It all started on Sunday August 3 when the 2024 Gala Queen, Amie Hughes, handed over to 2025 Ferry Queen Kayla McCutcheon and her party of Gianna Gracie, Ethan Parker, Poppy Ball and Wyatt Hay. CROWNING MOMENT. . . Violet Alison crowned the Gala Queen for 2025 Kayla McCutcheon[/caption] A vehicle treasure hunt followed, won by Charlotte McDowall and the evening rounded off with a disco. Monday was the teddy bear picnic, which had to be moved to the hall due to Storm Floris. The weather turned better for the fun dog show in the park. Overall winner was Bowie and Marlene McKenzie. Tuesday was the silly sports, again having to be moved to the hall. In the evening was the family treasure hunt, with joint winners the Donnelly Clan along with Charlotte and Mia. The evening rounded off with local singer Lorna McColm. Wednesday was eyes down for bingo and a full house meant people had to be turned away. It was dominoes on Thursday, won by Anne Ross, while the flower and vegetable show had an excellent amount of entries from both adults and children. A bowling tournament was won by Jim Maginness, runner up Bobbie Davidson, and Dougie Bark in third. And then it was Saturday and the big day, which started off overcast with a few showers, but turned out near perfect. [caption id="attachment_62079" align="aligncenter" width="474"]

WINNERS. . .vehicle class winner the Armstrong family Summer party[/caption] The parade featured numerous floats, vintage cars and tractors, with the winning vehicle being the Armstrong family’s summer party entry. Other fancy dress winners included for pre-school Darcy Spence as Sponge Bob Square Pants; while the pre-school group winner was Up featuring Finn McDowall with his mum and dad; the five to eight year-old category was was won by Timur Chystystiaker as Pirates of the Caribbean, with the groups won by Winnie the Pooh - Scott Brown, Becky Davies, Leah McMillan and Jade McMillan. Celebrations continued into the afternoon at the park where there was a huge range of stalls, musical entertainment from Creetown Silver Band, as well as appearances by Dean Marshall, Jesse Garron and Shannon Petrie.
