£98m in payments for D&G households

SOCIAL Security Scotland delivered over £98 million in payments that helped people who live in Dumfries and Galloway last year. Between 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025 the payments helped 27,870 people in the region with the cost of living, including support to heat their homes, pay for essential items and feed their families. Money to help people heat their homes was paid to the highest number of people, such as the Winter Heating Payment and Child Winter Heating Payment. Hundreds more also benefitted from the Scottish Child Payment after eligibility was increased to children under 16; and Carer Support Payment became available in all local authority areas of Scotland in November 2024.
