80s night success for charity champ Jackie

A CHAMPION fundraiser racing towards a £100k target is another £1k closer towards her goal.

Lockerbie’s Jackie Armstrong has dedicated the past few years of her life to raising funds for Maggie’s Centres, anetwork of drop-in centres who offer support and help to anyone who has been affected by cancer.

The mum-of-three became a hospital regular after being diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and again several years later.

Seven years on, Jackie has channelled her energy into raising a whopping £54,000 for her beloved Maggie’s, who she says were a godsend during her time of need.

And celebrating raising over £1000 at her latest event, an 80s night in Dumfries, she said: “The event was a fantastic night with a great turnout. It was magical to see all the different 80s outfits.

“Everyone was on the dance floor all night long and I think everyone had a blast from the past.”

She added: “As always a big thank you to everyone who came to support and help raise money and an even bigger thank you to the Cafe 91, who kindly donated the buffet.”

Jackie is hoping that her fundraising total will soar to new heights in September when she hosts her third zip wire across the River Nith.

She is looking for 150 people to take part. Contact Jackie by email on [email protected] for more details.
