Winning smiles as polished dental team lift top award

A DENTAL team from Lockerbie have proved that ‘you’re never fully dressed without a smile’.

The friendly team at Lockerbie Dental walked away with the Dental Team of the Year 2016 award last week at the annual Scottish Dental Awards.

The practice opened in 2009 and was taken over by Asad Iqbal in 2011 who aimed to provide the town with a luxurious and relaxing clinic.

Since 2011 the practice has grown and now boasts a team of 12, including five dentists and seven nurses and receptionists.

Lynsey Armstrong from the practice said: “We work tirelessly to ensure our patients are provided with top quality dentistry and the whole team are committed to help meet every patient’s individual needs.”

Lead dental nurse Lynsey believes the practice’s flexible approach and 11-and-a-halfhour long days have helped win over clients and clinch the prize for best team.

She said: “Our patients have described us as friendly, professional, caring and approachable.

“We genuinely care about our patients and want to help them feel and look good.”

The team were short-listed for the award earlier this year and last Friday were announced the winners at a glitzy ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.

Lynsey said: “To be recognised by Scottish Dentistry and be shortlisted was an amazing feeling, but then to actually win the award was just indescribable.

“We were up against five other outstanding teams all over Scotland and when our name was called the whole team jumped in the air screaming in disbelief. It was incredible.

“We are all delighted and still on cloud nine and our patients are also really excited for us.”

Lynsey added: “On a personal note, I have worked at Lockerbie Dental since Mr Iqbal took over and I have been lucky enough to watch our practice grow so much since 2011 and it’s just amazing to see how far we have all come.

“I am just so incredibly proud to work here with an amazing and inspiring team.

“We would like to thank all of our patients for their continued support and for providing us with testimonials during the nomination process.”
