THE FINAL phase of a £6 million pound resurfacing scheme on Dumfries bypass will be carried out this weekend.

The A75 from the A701 Edinburgh Road roundabout to the A76 Glasgow Road roundabout will be closed from tonight.
A spokesman for Scotland TranServ explained that the work is the last instalment in a series of schemes to upgrade the road surface; improving journey time reliability and safety as well as ensuring the longevity of the route for years to come.
The work will be undertaken by Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, and requires a total weekend closure from 7 pm today until 6 am on Monday.
Scotland TranServ’s contract director Gordon Wilson said: “We will be delivering the final phase of this million pound project which will prolong the lifespan of Dumfries Bypass for years to come.
“We have done everything we possibly can to plan the works over a weekend when traffic flows are lighter; however we would urge road users to plan their journeys to avoid delays.”
Scotland TranServ has carried out extensive planning and consultation in preparation for the works, including close liaison with Police Scotland and Dumfries and Galloway Council.
