AN EXTENSION to a bakery at a Dumfries supermarket is expected to result in a jobs boost.

Discount giant Lidl are pursuing alterations and extensions to their supermarket in Broom Road, with a focus on expanding its on-site bakery.
Chris Scott from Lidl said: “Our property team constantly review our store portfolio to ensure stores are kept up to date with current concepts both for our customers and staff.”
He added: “Our plan is to refurbish the store internally, but we would not increase or decrease the current shop floor sales space.
“The extension would be to the bakery area and the staff welfare facilities.”
He added: “It is anticipated that there will be a need to expand on the current head count but at this time no exact numbers are available.”
Plans for the store also include the erection of a trolley shelter.
