Hunt for group after street assault

POLICE are investigating a serious assault in a Dumfries neighbourhood in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A 28-year-old man was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with an injury to his arm following the altercation in Queen Street at around 2.30 am. He was later released after treatment.
Officers were quick to respond to reports of the disturbance, which they say involved a ‘large group’ of people, and are appealing for information.
A police spokesman added: “Enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances that resulted in the man being injured.”
Anyone with any information regarding the altercation is urged to contact Dumfries and Galloway CID on 101.
