PEOPLE living with diabetes in the region are being urged to make use of a helpline.

Diabetes Scotland is reaching out to the over 9000 people affected in Dumfries and Galloway and encouraging them to contact Helpline Scotland if they have any questions about the condition.

Linda McGlynn, patient and healthcare professional engagement manager at Diabetes Scotland, said: “Diabetes is a very complex condition and it impacts on many aspects of a person’s life so it can be overwhelming trying to manage it well every single day. No matter what type of diabetes a person is diagnosed with, they will need the right care and support to live well with the condition and reduce their risk of developing complications.
“Our helpline offers people affected by diabetes the chance to call, email or webchat and ask any questions they have about living with and managing the condition.”
It is open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm and calls and emails are answered by trained counsellors.
