BORDER greyhound Freebie was out of the traps like a rocket to win over the sprint distance at a curtailed race meeting at Halcrow Stadium on Friday night.

The three-year-old bitch from Basher Carmichael and Tina Robinson of Greenmill, Longtown crossed the line with an impressive 3.25 lengths lead.

Runner-up was Craft, entered by the Geddes kennels at Dumfries.

The opening and third races were dominated by Cumbrian greyhounds with Night Rascal from Michael Renwick and Flaming Patsie trained by Tony Hopper, both Workington.

A trough of more extreme than expected bad weather brought racing to an end prematurely but not before Glasgow-based Horsey took the honours by two lengths in the fourth and final completed race.
