ICE hockey teams from around Scotland came to Dumfries for the first ever Galloway Cup tournament.

The competition was hosted by Solway Sharks under 12s and they welcomed rivals from Ayr, Kilmarnock, Edinburgh, Lanarkshire and North Ayrshire.
There was plenty of fast, exciting hockey, and all teams taking part loved the quick turnover of games that saw the tournament progress quickly.
Although they narrowly lost out on a place in the final after some close, hard-fought games, the Junior Sharks were delighted with their third place finish, and jubilant to be awarded the “Fair Play” trophy for the fewest penalties.
Coach Craig Jackson said: “It was a really fantastic climax to the season for the boys, who have all worked hard all season and really developed as a team. We played some great hockey, all the players gave it their all, and had fun while they were competing.”
The tournament was eventually won by Murrayfield, from Edinburgh, and the prizes were presented by Bari McKenzie, a former Junior Shark who now plays for Elite League team Braehead Clan.
