EIGHT applications for funding were made to Annandale and Eskdale Area Committee this week.

And two projects within the Lockerbie area sought assistance from the discretionary grant budget 2015/16.

Lockerbie Old School Community Hub asked for £7000 towards a feasibility study to ascertain if there is a need in Lockerbie and the surrounding area foraproposed community centre.

They were awarded £5320 to investigate whether the project is sustainable and will fulfil a useful purpose within the community and does not duplicate any provision already in place.

Members heard that the study will also establish if the Old School is technically viable, financially viable, fit for purpose, accessible for the disabled and environmentally friendly.

Meanwhile, Lockerbie Riding of the Marches and Gala requested £2500 to assist with the expenses of hosting a family filled day of entertainment on Saturday June 13 and the week leading up to gala day. They were also successful and awarded £1500.
