Counting the cost of massive hailstones

RESIDENTS of villages including Eastriggs and Waterbeck are counting the cost of Wednesday’s weather, as massive hailstones rained down causing widespread damage to cars and property.

One resident of the area, and a victim of the freak weather, said: “I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.”
Another said: “I had to go and look out the back door. It was as if someone was hitting pebbles off of my windows.”
The massive hailstones accompanied thunder and lightning storms which swept the region.
Watch for next week’s edition of The Annandale Observer for more coverage of the consequences of this freak summer weather.
