Bike tragedy witness plea

A DEATH of a young man as a result of a road accident last month remains under investigation.

Police this weekend renewed their appeal for witnesses to the incident on the B797, near Wanlockhead, on Monday August 15.

James Murray, 22, from the village, was discovered seriously injured after coming off his Carrera road bike. No other vehicle was involved.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow where he died three days later.

Sergeant Leigh McCulloch of Police Scotland said: “Enquiries into the circumstances of this fatal road crash are continuing and we would like to speak to any witnesses who have not already contacted police.

“In particular we would like to speak to the driver of a blue Peugeot 306 or 307 which was seen travelling on this road towards Mennock around the time of the incident.”

He added that anyone with information should contact Road Policing on telephone number 101.
